RICI Committee Changes Weightings
CHICAGO/LAUSANNE/TOKYO/LONDON/ NEW YORK, MAY 16, 2008---The Rogers International Index Committee announced today the following change on the Rogers International Commodity Index (RICI®). This change will be implemented at the end of May 2008 during the roll period.
Due to the lack of liquidity on the TGE Azuki Beans contract, the Committee decided to reduce the weight of this component to 0.25% and to increase the weight of CBOT Soybean by 0.25%. This adjustment will occur during the May 2008 roll period.
Rogers created the RICI® in 1997 and 1998.The RICI® represents the value of a compendium (or "basket") of 36 globally traded commodities employed in the global economy, ranging from agricultural products and energy products to metals and minerals.
Since January 1, 2008, the Rogers International Commodity Index has increased by approximately 19.07% as of May 15, 2007. Since Rogers created the RICI® on August 1, 1998, the RICI® has increased by approximately 426.5 %.
